An Illustrated History: Trucking in British Columbia by Daniel Francis

This is a fascinating book on the history of trucking in BC.

Daniel Francis of North Vancouver, BC does a great job of researching the history of trucking from the days of when highways when roads that were dangerously rutted mud pits with no snow plowing, where in most places only one truck could fit, meaning one truck would have to back up to a place where they could both pass safely, to the days of super highways and roads being maintained thru snow plowing and road keep up.

Trucking has changed thru the years not only with equipment but licencing to, and Francis does a remarkable job of telling the story of not only trucking but the drivers of the trucks from the early days right up to today.

Labour and trucking companies are also covered in this book and I think Francis does a good job of telling both sides of the story. Like the book says quoting one of my favourite sayings, "You got it, truck brought it."

If you can find this book and are interesting in the trucking industry in British Columbia pick this book up. It's a little pricey at $49.95 CND but it is really worth it.
